Who is our customer?

Customer: Tate
general contractor
Project: single-family residence
Location: Utah, United States of America

Challenges of the project: slim aluminum windows for a high-end residence

Tate was the contractor for a project commissioned by a private owner in the state of Utah. It involved a large, high-standard house situated on a slope just above the city, boasting a great location with a beautiful view. At the back of the house, there is a huge precipice offering a superb view of the entire skyline, making the windows crucial for showcasing this view.

Therefore, Tate required windows and patio doors with slim frames. The remodeling project necessitated:

  • Large glazings: The ratio of glass to frame profiles should be as large as possible.
  • Triple glazing for the comfort of the inhabitants.
  • Customized windows that fit the original shape of the house.

For Tate, it was also important to maintain excellent communication with his supplier, enabling him to provide all the necessary answers to his client – the owner of the house.

The solution: large glazings with safe tempered glass

Tate contacted us after searching a supplier of premium European aluminum windows for his client’s house. Recognizing that the homeowner’s approval was crucial, I proposed inviting him to a business consultation. This allowed us to discuss all goals and needs together, avoiding the pitfalls of miscommunication.

The remodeling project demanded large glazings and a premium quality appearance. My teammate Jacob Chwałek – a debesto technologist – and I recommended two aluminum systems: Aluprof MB-79N for fixed windows and Cortizo COR Vision Plus for slim sliding patio doors. These profiles enabled us to achieve a slim look and excellent thermal parameters, with a U-Factor between 0.14 and 0.19.

For large glass constructions, we used thicker glass: 6 mm (0.236″) instead of the standard 4 mm (0.157″), to provide the windows with stability and prevent breakage. It was also crucial for such large glazings to ensure maximum safety for the owner.

In the project, all three panes of glass are tempered. Otherwise, if the first pane is broken, the middle one could pose a danger to anyone nearby.

The result: comfort for the contractor – comfort for the owner

Comfort was the main theme of this project. Tate was in search of a supplier that could not only offer him various customized premium windows from Europe but also the comfort of work associated with excellent communication and responsiveness.

For the project, he sought high-standard windows with a clean, minimal obstruction design, providing safety and comfort for the home’s inhabitants. However, the success hinged on not just the products. In this case, there were a few key factors of success:

  • Ensuring the attendance of all decision-makers (the owner) during consultations is a proven procedure at debesto that streamlines arrangements and decision-making.
  • Maintaining great communication.
  • Implementing a few steps to check the order.
  • Following proven procedures for safe delivery to the job site.

As a window broker without loyalty agreements with any system provider, we could offer the optimal solution for Tate. According to the debesto purchasing process, we were also able to make all necessary agreements smoothly and avoid errors or misunderstandings.

How does Tate feel about working with debesto?

Essentially, as a contractor, we are gatherers and sharers of information. When that information is not available to us, it typically results in owners becoming anxious and upset when they don’t receive it.

From my experience of over 30 years working with a lot of companies, a lack of communication can cause project delays, frustration, and upset among people.

When the initial conversations with debesto began, the level of comfort grew immensely and led me to make my decision and go with them.

I was able to have my questions and concerns resolved in a timely manner and share them with my team. That made the process easier and more streamlined.
