COR Vision vs COR Vision PLUS – which sliding terrace windows from Cortizo should you choose?
Cortizo COR Vision panoramic sliding windows offer a modern and unique look. These frameless windows achieve a maximum glass surface by hiding the frame, using ultra-thin central mullions, and embedding the window board in the floor.
What is the difference between them? In this comparison, you will find the prices, the technical parameters and the most important differences between Cor Vision and Cor Vision Plus. You decide which solution best suits your needs.
Cortizo Cor Vision – what do we compare?
In our overview, we compare ready-made structures. This gives you the best picture of the differences between the systems from the Cortizo Cor Vision family. You can find real data of finished products in one place.
In this comparison, you will learn the price difference, the Uw coefficient or the width of the central mullion. We are comparing here: Cortizo Cor Vision, Cortizo Cor Vision Plus and Cortizo Cor Vision Plus HI (additionally insulated version of the standard Cor Vision Plus). See the pros and cons of each solution and decide what you really need.
We compared Cor Vision systems with the following parameters:
- dimensions : 9 ft 10.11 in x 7 ft 2.61 in
- scheme A (active leaf + fix)
- profile color – RAL 9005 jet black
- hardened double/triple pane packages
Cor Vision – double pane package (Ug=1,1)
Cor Vision Plus – triple pane package (Ug=0,5) - accessories: lack
Thermal parameters of Cortizo sliding windows.
Understanding the thermal properties of a structure is primarily related to learning the heat transfer coefficient, i.e., Uw. The lower the result, the better – because the window is warmer, and the energy (heat) loss is lower.
When looking at a frameless window, we can see that this value depends primarily on the glazing package used. It is because the glass is the largest part of this structure.
Cortizo Cor Vision can accommodate a glazing package with a maximum thickness of 1.18 in. This value enables to select a package with up to two panes. Therefore, the compared model has been equipped with a double-glazed package with tempered glass panes, which ensures full safety of use. This glazing package is characterised by Ug = 1.1.
Its older brother can have glazing packages with a thickness up to 2.24 in. Thanks to this it is possible to use a triple-glazed package. It is much warmer and has Ug = 0.5. It also includes 0.16 in thick tempered glass panes.
System | Uw | Insulation difference |
Cortizo Cor Vision | 1,45 | |
Cortizo Cor Vision Plus | 1,04 | + 28% warmer |
Cortizo Cor Vision Plus HI | 1,01 | + 30% warmer |
What is the weight of Cortizo Cor Vision sliding windows?
The compared constructions weighed:
- Cortizo Cor Vision – 159,15.43 lb
- Cortizo Cor Vision Plus / HI – 251,11.02 lb
The weight of the structure will increase with the size of the window. This is mainly due to the glazing package and the potential electric drive. The maximum weight of the sash in Cortizo Cor Vision is 705.48 lb. In the case of Cor Vision Plus or Cor Vision Plus HI, it is 881.85 lb with a manual drive and 1543.24 lb with an electric drive.
See the product card:
Cortizo Cor Vision (standard)
COR Vision Plus is 57% heavier than the standard Cor Vision. The reason for this is an additional window pane. Older people, people with disabilities or children may have problems with manual sliding of such a sash. Therefore, before buying, it is worth considering whether the weight of the structure could cause problems in everyday use. If this is the case, it is possible to buy an electric control.
Sliding windows with an electric drive? Cortizo Cor Vision Plus only.
When you are looking for Cor Vision windows with an automatic drive, the choice is obvious. Only Cortizo Cor Vision Plus and Cortizo Cor Vision Plus HI have such a solution.
We recommend an automated drive for sashes weighing more than 661.39 lb. In the case of Cor Vision Plus, heavier sashes can be difficult to slide manually.
Compatibility with SMART HOME systems is an additional advantage of the electric drive. By choosing such a solution, you can control the door just like other devices of this type.
Window board in COR Vision – what solution should you choose?
Window boards are mounted in three ways:
- regular window board embedded in the floor
- window board embedded in the floor with a drain gutter and a base
- window board integrated with the floor (in this case a drain gutter is necessary)
Why is the proper installation of the window board so important? Among other things, because the window board is responsible for the tightness of the system. A window board embedded in the floor or integrated with the floor ensures maximum thermal efficiency.
For safety reasons, debesto recommends installing an additional ground beam (e.g., made of Purenit), which stabilizes the window board and prevents it from falling in, as well as provides additional sealing.
It is worth choosing a manufacturer who will also take care of the so-called slide. Properly prefabricated, it will make opening and closing of the structure easier. When talking with the manufacturer, ask if the elements will be cut using CNC machines. It’s only way to be sure of a perfect finish and precise matching of elements.
System | Board height |
Cortizo Cor Vision | 1.73 in |
Cortizo Cor Vision Plus | 2.24 in |
Cortizo Cor Vision Plus HI | 2.24 in |
Drain gutter – an advantage of a sliding window or an unnecessary addition that will cost you a pretty penny?
A special gutter, called linear drainage, is installed at the floor level to carry water that flows to the terrace doors and accumulates inside their elements. Each window has standard drainage in the frame, but in some cases, builders also need to install linear drainage.
The gutter is integrated with the ground beam extension or the window board. This does not affect the appearance of the structure in any way and guarantees effective water drainage. You will pay for it about 20% more than in the case of the basic price of the window.
When is it worth equipping a window with such a gutter? According to debesto, it is worth equipping the window with such a gutter when the terrace is not roofed and thus more exposed to weather conditions. Otherwise, there should be no problem and you can save around 20%.
Minimum and maximum dimensions of frameless windows from Cortizo.
Currently, the maximum standard width and height of the sash for Cortizo Cor Vision Plus is 4,0 in. This gives much more options than in the case of its younger brother, where the maximum width of the sash is 2,1 ft 7.69 in and the height is 3,0 in.
The situation is different in the case of minimum dimensions. In option A, where one sash is sliding and one sash is fixed, the smallest available dimension is 1,3.94 in x 1 ft 11.62 in in COR Vision.
Opening options for the COR Vision system.
Sliding windows enable the use of various combinations of sliding sashes in one line. In the case of the Cortizo Cor Vision system, it is possible to install up to six sashes. The offer includes many options, including galandage and joining the sashes without a mullion at an angle of 90 degrees.
In both systems, COR Visiona can be installed with galandage. It is a solution in which the sash is hidden in the wall, which gives the effect of frameless sliding door. The end result is a frameless sliding door that hides in the wall. We recommend this solution for small spaces. Thanks to this, the room will get the maximum amount of light. This type of solution is often used in France.
There are as many as 21 sash layout options available for Cor Vision Plus. It is also possible to connect the sashes at an angle of 90 degrees without a mullion. This way, it is possible to obtain structures that replace most walls in the room. Below are some of the most popular opening options for the Cortizo Cor Vision Plus system.
Which Cor Vision system has the narrowest central mullion?
With such huge dimensions of glazing as offered by the Cortizo system, the central mullion has currently no competitor on the market. Although the difference between the Cor Vision and Cor Vision Plus models is 0.2 in, this is a hardly noticeable value for structures of this size. Remember that the central mullion is part of the sash frame. More sashes mean more visible mullions.
System | Central mullion |
Cortizo Cor Vision | 0.79 in |
Cortizo Cor Vision Plus | 0.98 in |
Cortizo Cor Vision Plus HI | 0.98 in |
What opening methods can you choose from in COR Vision and COR Vision PLUS?
How to open Cortizo Cor Vision? The system provider thoughtfully equipped the windows with several solutions, and users can adjust these solutions to suit their needs and achieve the desired effects.
One of the most frequently asked questions is how to make the sash hide completely after opening? The answer is simple and there are two ways to do this:
- when the system is opened automatically
- when the handle is placed on the central mullion (see below)
The handle can be positioned on the side of the sash, on the frame or on the central mullion. This depends on the preferences of the owners.
The handle can be one-sided or two-sided, with or without a lock. If the drive is electric, it is not necessary to install a handle with a lock.
Colors of Cortizo sliding windows
No matter what color you want, one thing is certain. When you buy Cortizo, you can choose your dream color.
You can choose from various color palettes in all variants currently available on the market:
- any color from the RAL palette (matt, glossy, structured)
- anodised
- wood-like
For more demanding customers, it is also possible to use bicolor, i.e., a different color on the outside and on the inside.
Prices of COR Vision and COR Vision PLUS sliding window
Due to the additional features of the COR Vision PLUS system, it is more expensive than its younger brother. Cortizo Cor Vision plus is 34% more expensive. Of course, coming with the price are better thermal parameters and greater possibilities of expanding the system. It all depends on what you need.
Interestingly, when comparing the price of Cor Vision Plus and Cortizo Cor Vision Plus HI, the difference in price is almost invisible (taking into account the cost of the entire system). Additional insulation increases the price by less than 1%. As a result, Cor Vision HI becomes a fairly attractive alternative for those who want to take advantage of the maximum performance offered by this system.
