The size of the glazing plays a big role in lower U-Factor results, so profiles with a larger glazing area achieve better performances. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><strong>What is the U-Factor exactly?<\/strong> <\/strong>U-Factor determines how much heat is able to pass through 1 ft\u00b2 of the flat surface of a window when the difference in air temperature inside and outside the room is 1 Fahrenheit. U-Factor is expressed in BTU per square meter per hour per 1 Fahrenheit (Btu\/(h\u22c5ft\u00b2 \u22c5\u00b0F).  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-6 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Its <strong>equivalent in the metric system is<\/strong> <strong>Uw. <\/strong>It is expressed in Watts per square meter per Kelvin (W\/m\u00b2<strong>\u22c5<\/strong>K).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-5 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-4 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f3f3f3\">Uw consists of the <strong>Ug<\/strong> (thermal transmittance of the glass) and <strong>Uf <\/strong>(thermal transmittance of the frame), which indicate how much heat escapes through the glazing unit and the window frame. You can get the U-Factor by the American scale <strong>by dividing Uw<\/strong>, e.g. 1.2, <strong>by 5.678<\/strong>, which in this case equals U-Factor 0.21.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div
